Psychological diagnoses can help us understand the people around us - but it comes at a cost. Labelling people into pre-existing categories could benefit them by increasing awareness and providing them with a ticket to access support. However, as Lucy Foulkes discusses, labels have a power which could exacerbate rather than reduce the stigma.
