People do wrong because they’re servile, not self-interested

Why do people do things they know to be wrong? What makes them break the legal and moral code? Christopher Freiman writing in Aeon magazine says that it is not immediate self-interest that drives people to immorality, but in fact servility and the desire to conform to culture and convention.
